About this tour
A visit to Wellhayes, a family-run vineyard at Clayhanger near Tiverton in mid Devon. The tour starts in the main courtyard, above the car park. The owner gives a talk and shows you round the winery and the vineyard. Afterwards you have a glass of Wellhayes sparkling wine, a few of its handmade chocolates and a Devon cream tea. Allow about two hours.
It is gentle and personal, and the cream tea makes it more of an afternoon out than a straight tasting.
Wear sturdy shoes for the vineyard. Wellhayes runs tours on set afternoons from May to September. Children are welcome, with a cream tea at extra cost, and so are dogs, though not in the winery. The facilities are wheelchair accessible.
Best for: couples or families on holiday in Devon who want a relaxed summer afternoon at a small vineyard.
