Vineyard tours with lunch

Plenty of vineyards will sell you a cheese board after a tasting. Fewer put a proper meal on the table as part of the booking. These are the ones that do, with the price, how long you will be there and the days it runs.

The short answer

In the south-east a tour or tasting with a sit-down lunch costs about £40 a head at the simpler end, at Sedlescombe and Kingscote in Sussex, and up to £190 for Balfour’s day in Kent, which includes the transfers. The longer ones take most of the day. All of them have to be booked, and several run only on certain days of the week, so look at the last column before you look at the price.

In the south-east and London

Prices are per person. Each name links to our full guide to the vineyard, with its other experiences and how to book.

A lighter lunch, or dinner instead

  • A board rather than a mealBlack Chalk in Hampshire sells a £40 tour and tasting with a grazing board of local cheese, charcuterie and River Test smoked trout, though its booking calendar showed no open dates when we checked. Yotes Court in Kent ends its tour with a light lunch, £48.50 at the 2026 price, from April to October. Bolney’s three-hour Experience tour, from £60, comes with a mezze board.
  • Lunch without the tourTinwood does a £38 Sunday lunch from October to April, a roast served as a sharing board, with wine paid for separately. Oxney’s winter tasting is £60 with lunch, which means a platter and a glass of Woodhouse Pinot, on selected Saturdays from February to April 2027.
  • In the eveningWiston’s Taste of Chalk is £130 for a winery tour, four vintage wines and a six-course dinner, on selected Fridays, with drinks at dinner extra. Leonardslee does a tasting and two-course dinner for £59 from Wednesday to Saturday at 5pm.
  • A tasting menuChapel Down’s Luxury Dining Experience, from £160, is an early evening tour and tasting followed by a five-course menu at The Swan, and the winter version is from £130. Artelium serves a six-course paired menu on four set days in November and December, but has not published a price.

Before you book

  • Check the day firstBalfour’s £70 lunch is Monday to Wednesday only, Bolney’s is Fridays, Hambledon’s is Thursday to Saturday and Kingscote’s is weekends. Chapel Down and Gusbourne show their days only in the booking calendar.
  • Without a carBalfour’s Wine and Dine includes the transfers from Marden station. Denbies is a 15-minute walk from Dorking, and London Cru three minutes from West Brompton. For Gusbourne, take the train to Ashford International, 15 minutes away by car, or Rye, 10 minutes, rather than Appledore.
  • ChildrenMost of these are for adults. Balfour, Gusbourne, Hambledon, Domaine Evremond and Bolney keep children off their tours or tastings, and Chapel Down’s dining experiences are adults only. Sedlescombe lets children on its tours free.
  • The cheaper pricesKingscote’s and Sedlescombe’s prices come from their gift voucher pages, because their booking pages do not show them. Expect the same on the day, but check.

Let someone else drive

These day tours do the driving and include lunch, though on some it is a picnic or a pub lunch.

Questions people ask

Is wine included with a vineyard lunch?

Usually some. Gusbourne’s lunch comes with wine, Balfour and Bolney pair a wine with each course, Chapel Down pours two glasses of still wine and Hambledon one glass of Classic Cuvée. Tinwood’s Sunday lunch and Wiston’s dinner charge for drinks separately.

Can I have lunch at a vineyard without booking a tour?

Yes, at many. Hambledon’s bar and restaurant take walk-ins, Tinwood’s Vineyard Kitchen is walk-in only, and you do not need to book for Bolney’s café or the cafés at Denbies. Our list of vineyards with food covers the rest.

How far ahead should I book?

As far as you can for anything on a set date. Domaine Evremond’s lunches take 16 people, London Cru runs about one Saturday a month, and Tinwood says its Sundays before Christmas sell out early. The weekly ones are easier to get.

The details on this page come from our vineyard guides, each checked against the vineyard’s own website on the date shown there, between 5 October and 3 November 2026 for the vineyards above. Menus and days change, so check the booking page before you go.
